This by-invitation NSF-sponsored workshop developed a view of new research directions at the intersection of the Information/Intelligent Systems (IIS) and the Global Environment for Networking Innovations (GENI) Programs of the National Science Foundation. The workshop was held held 8-9 November at NSF in Arlington, VA, near Washington, DC. Our aim was to suggest visionary and scientifically compelling ways that current IIS research areas can exploit new possibilities provided through the GENI program, and also enhance GENI itself through insights and partnerships developed via research in the robust intelligence, information integration/informatics, and human-centered systems research areas of IIS.
