Katherine Dunham Archives Preservation Project

Through a collaboration between the East St. Louis Action Research Project (www.eslarp.uiuc.edu) and GSLIS, student volunteers have been traveling to East St. Louis since Spring 2007 to begin to secure and make sense of the late Katherine Dunham papers located across her three houses and museum in East St. Louis. On this page you will find more information about this ongoing project and also find information on how you can help. We will be returning to East St. Louis a work weekend in November (Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15), and we are looking for more help. E-mail Noah Lenstra at nlenstr2@illinois.edu to register or for more information. Explore this wiki for more information on Ms. Dunham and on the upcoming trip. If you can't make it in, we will be traveling to East St. Louis again  next semester. Anyone interested in archives, social justice and information institutions, museums and/or community informatics is encouraged to join us. The trip is free and room and board will be provided for you.
